A More Natural Approach to Wedding Photography

Here are some examples of my  Celtic Manor wedding photography created for previous bride and grooms. This five star  resort combines 2,000 acres of South Wales parkland with multiple hotels in the region. The jewel of the crown has to be the 330-room luxury Resort Hotel, but it also includes the original 19th century Manor House, Coldra Court and the small county inn, Newbridge on Usk.

The resort also boasts a large convention centre and three championship golf courses. In fact it has hosted the international renowned Ryder Cup in 2010, with a purpose built course and club house. It was also home of the 2014 NATO summit. In terms of South Wales wedding photography, it offers a plethora of locations for  ceremonies and reception areas. There is a wide choice within the Celtic Manor Resort including the Chairmans Marquee at the main Clubhouse, the  2010 Clubhouse, the Rooftop Terrace and the historic Manor House.

Wedding photography at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, South Wales, offers scale, flexibility and a refined setting suited to both large celebrations and more intimate gatherings. Set within extensive parkland in the Usk Valley, the resort combines contemporary architecture, landscaped grounds and purpose-built event spaces, providing a comprehensive environment for documenting a wedding day from preparation through to the evening reception.

“Words cannot express how grateful we are for your help making our wedding day so special”

Wedding Photography at Celtic Manor Resort

One of the defining characteristics of the Celtic Manor Resort is its versatility. With multiple ceremony and reception suites available, couples can select spaces that reflect the size and tone of their celebration. Larger ballrooms accommodate substantial guest numbers without compromising layout or sightlines, while smaller suites offer a more contained and personal atmosphere.

For wedding photography, this variety allows for adaptable coverage. The resort’s expansive interiors provide clean lines, neutral décor and controlled lighting, all of which support consistent image quality. High ceilings and well-spaced seating arrangements ensure clear views during the ceremony and speeches, enabling photographers to document key moments without disruption.

Beyond the interior spaces, the resort’s landscaped grounds contribute significantly to its photographic appeal. Rolling lawns, mature trees and views across the surrounding Welsh countryside create opportunities for structured group photographs as well as relaxed couple portraits. The scale of the estate allows for privacy and flexibility, even during larger weddings.

The terrace areas and elevated viewpoints are particularly effective for wide compositions, incorporating both the couple and the natural landscape. During favourable weather, these outdoor settings provide balance to the more formal interior coverage, adding variety to the overall gallery.

Seasonal changes also influence the visual character of the venue. Spring and summer bring vibrant greenery and extended daylight hours, while autumn introduces warmer tones across the parkland. Even in winter, the structured landscaping and open views maintain a clean and uncluttered backdrop.

As the day progresses into the reception, the Celtic Manor’s event suites transition effectively from formal dining to evening celebration. Table layouts are typically well organised, allowing clear photographic access to speeches and guest reactions. Ambient lighting in the evening creates depth while maintaining sufficient illumination for natural-looking images.

The first dance and later festivities benefit from the spacious dance floors and adaptable lighting systems. Photographers can combine ambient light with subtle flash techniques to preserve atmosphere while ensuring clarity and detail.

A significant advantage of the Celtic Manor Resort is the ability to host all elements of the wedding day within one location. Preparation rooms, ceremony spaces, reception suites and outdoor areas are all accessible on site. This continuity supports efficient scheduling and reduces time pressures, allowing for considered and comprehensive photographic coverage.

In summary, wedding photography at the Celtic Manor Resort is characterised by flexibility, organisation and expansive surroundings. Its combination of contemporary interiors and landscaped grounds offers a structured and reliable setting for capturing a wedding day with clarity and professionalism.

“Sacha was fantastic! I was very specific in wanting to capture the narrative of the day and that I wanted atmosphere over posed photographs.”

“I have a background in Fine Art and Sacha was the only wedding photographer I liked, so I was very happy that he was able to do our wedding. He even ran into the sea with us for some quirky shots in the wind and rain! He never complained despite getting soaked and the photos captured such a beautiful vibe of the day. I would highly recommend him.”

“Sacha was great in the lead up the wedding; listening and understanding what we wanted from the day as well as working with us to accommodate the different locations of the bridal party and ensuring photos were taken in all. On the day you hardly knew Sacha was there but the photos showed he was everywhere!! We are so happy and proud of the photos.”
