I photographed the wedding of Ali and Kevin on one of the hottest days of August in 2022. The golf courses at the Celtic Manor Resort was looking considerably parched and also feeling a little hot under the collar was the groom and his attendees in their black ties. The bride and her bridesmaids were trying to keep cool in one the hotel’s suites as their hair and make up was completed by local wedding supplier, Janet White-Ashby & Co. The marriage ceremony took place at the golf club’s Julia Suite, which overlooks the course and the resorts main hotel. The wedding party and guests are provided transport winding through the farways and greens from the hotel. In the case of the bride, a vintage cars is tasked with the drive. After the formalities, the drinks are served on the terrace, but with the temperature so high it was not long before the shade provided by the Celtic Manor Resort’s Chairmans Marquee was in much demand. It has been a glorious summer here in South Wales, and once again today we were treated to the warm glow of a tremendous golden hour. Couples seem to much more aware of the photographic possibilities of this light. Once the wedding breakfast and speeches had been enjoyed, Ali and Kevin were happy to go for a little stroll in the cooling evening air, allowing me to capture some natural portraits as they did so. The evening entertainment was then kicked off with the couples first dance and a little bit of friendly gambling with a wedding casino provided by Fun Casino Hire.
