Caer Llan Wedding Photography
Caer Llan is an exclusive-use wedding and events venue, allowing couples and their guests to enjoy complete privacy throughout their stay. Situated on a secluded Welsh hillside, it commands breathtaking views across the Wye Valley in Monmouthshire, making it a truly memorable setting for both weddings and photography. The venue is a charming, family-owned country house surrounded by splendid terraced gardens, private woodland, and even an outdoor swimming pool, all of which provide a wonderful variety of backdrops for creative and romantic wedding images.
Originally built around 1800, Caer Llan has a rich and varied history. Past owners include a chairman of the Great Western Railway Company, a pioneering doctor who introduced anaesthetics to Wales, and a Royal Navy Captain, each leaving their mark on the character of the property. In the late 1960s, the house was purchased by Peter Carpenter, who began converting it into a field studies centre. Thanks to the surrounding woodland, which is home to several rare tree species, the grounds were designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Over the years, the property has been thoughtfully extended and renovated to create an idyllic setting for private events and weddings, while still retaining its original charm and character. Caer Llan is able to provide overnight accommodation for up to fifty guests, making it ideal for relaxed, weekend-long celebrations.
Today, Caer Llan’s reputation for a warm Welsh welcome is proudly upheld by Peter’s son Jake and his wife Vicky. This family-run venue is known for its high standard of service, centred around an ethos of offering a genuine “home away from home” experience, something that shines through in both the atmosphere of the day and the photographs captured there.
