Here is some of the photography that I provided for Sophie and Charlie from their autumnal Manorbier Castle wedding in Pembrokeshire, West Wales. The morning began with the bride as she was getting ready with her bridesmaids in the castle’s accommodation. The scene was a hub of activity with make up artist, Phillipa Hughes in full flow, as the florist, Flowers by Annabel, zoomed around decorating the marquee and delivering the bouquets.
The groom, his best man and ushers, were meanwhile enjoying a pint of beer with river views at Cressely Arms in the nearby village of Kilgetty. Along with the videographer from Nice Productions, we took a short break from the bridal preparations to navigate the Pembrokeshire country lanes to join them for a short while to capture this moment. It was then back to Manorbier Castle, where Sophie was getting her Emma Victoria Payne wedding dress on before leaving for the church.
The marriage service was taking place at St Mary’s Church Carew in the Pembrokeshire village of Carew Cheriton. Sufficiently nourished by pints of ale, the ushers were hard at work, directing guests along the country lane to be seated within the Norman walls of this rural place of worship to await the arrival of the bride. She did arrive of course and after savouring the moment with a selfie with her bridesmaids at the church gates, Sophie joined her fiancé at the church alter. The beautiful service was accompanied by the emotive tones of the male voice choir and once the register was signed the new husband wife made their way down the aisle and along the church path as their guests celebrated together with the throwing of confetti.
The drinks reception was held in the grounds of Manorbier Castle, where a marquee had been hoisted to host the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations later in the day. The autumnal sun made a sporadic appearance, just enough to warm the gardens to allow the drinks to be enjoyed al fresco. Though when the temperature did start to fall it was time to retreat to the warmth of the marquee, where a tasty feast was ready to be served by Strawberry Shortcake bespoke catering company. The candle lit atmosphere was perfect to enjoy the speeches and the dining companions made up of close friends and family that only a wedding can provide.
