A More Natural Approach to Wedding Photography

Here are some examples of my Peterstone Court wedding photography that I have captured for previous bride and grooms. Peterstone Court is nestled in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park of South Wales. This Georgian Grade II listed country house is in the village of Llanhamlach was built in 1741 for the barrister John Powell. It has been extended over the years but has managed to maintain its elegant charm. Located a short distance from the market town of Brecon, in the shadow of Pen Y Fan mountain. It had a ward winning restaurant and spa and convenient rest stop for hill walking, fishing, and other outdoor pursuits. Thanks to its large dining room it is capable of hosting large wedding celebrations.

Wedding photography at Peterstone Court offers a refined blend of historic elegance and natural grandeur. Situated within the magnificent Brecon Beacons National Park, this Grade II-listed Georgian manor house provides an exceptional setting for couples seeking both sophistication and scenic drama in their wedding imagery. The combination of period architecture, landscaped grounds and panoramic countryside views makes Peterstone Court one of the most distinguished wedding venues in Wales for photographic storytelling.

The day often begins within the manor’s beautifully appointed interiors. High ceilings, sash windows and original fireplaces create an atmosphere of understated luxury, while the abundance of natural light enhances the softness and authenticity of bridal preparation photographs. Fine details, a gown suspended against antique wood panelling, jewellery arranged upon polished surfaces, or a quiet exchange between family members are elevated by the character of the surroundings. These early moments set the tone for a cohesive visual narrative grounded in elegance and intimacy.

The architectural features of Peterstone Court lend themselves particularly well to formal portraiture. Georgian symmetry, grand staircases and refined reception rooms provide structured compositions ideal for classic family groupings and couple portraits. At the same time, the neutral tones and tasteful décor ensure that the subjects remain the focus. The result is imagery that feels timeless rather than trend-driven, balancing contemporary photographic techniques with a respect for the venue’s heritage.

Beyond the interiors, the grounds and surrounding landscape offer remarkable versatility. The rolling hills of the Brecon Beacons create a dramatic backdrop, with peaks such as Pen-y-Fan visible in the distance. Expansive lawns, mature trees and open skies allow for wide, cinematic compositions that contrast beautifully with the intimacy of indoor portraits. Seasonal changes further enrich the visual possibilities, from fresh spring greenery to the warm tones of autumn.

Golden hour is particularly striking at Peterstone Court. As the sun lowers over the Welsh countryside, soft light bathes the landscape, creating depth and warmth in couple portraits. The nearby River Usk and surrounding valleys contribute to a sense of tranquillity and scale, reinforcing the venue’s connection to its natural environment. Photographers frequently use this time to create romantic, atmospheric images that become defining highlights within a wedding collection.

Ceremonies at Peterstone Court may be held within elegant interior spaces or outdoors overlooking the countryside. Each setting presents its own photographic considerations. Indoor ceremonies allow for controlled lighting and carefully framed compositions, while outdoor celebrations benefit from expansive views and natural illumination. A skilled photographer will adapt seamlessly, capturing both the formal proceedings and the spontaneous expressions that give authenticity to the occasion.

As the celebration progresses into the reception, the venue continues to provide visual interest. Candlelit dining rooms, speeches framed by historic architecture, and evening festivities within tastefully styled spaces ensure a varied and comprehensive gallery. Night-time portraits on the terrace or beneath the open sky add a final layer of refinement and romance.

In summary, wedding photography at Peterstone Court is distinguished by its harmonious combination of architectural heritage and breathtaking landscape. The venue supports a style that is both elegant and emotive, enabling photographers to create images that are timeless, atmospheric and deeply personal.

“Sacha was fantastic! I was very specific in wanting to capture the narrative of the day and that I wanted atmosphere over posed photographs.”

“I have a background in Fine Art and Sacha was the only wedding photographer I liked, so I was very happy that he was able to do our wedding. He even ran into the sea with us for some quirky shots in the wind and rain! He never complained despite getting soaked and the photos captured such a beautiful vibe of the day. I would highly recommend him.”
