A More Natural Approach to Wedding Photography

Here are some examples of my Llangoed Hall wedding photography that I have captured for previous bride and grooms. Llangoed Hall has to one of the most beautiful hotels in one of the most beautiful parts of Wales. Dating from 1632, although it is thought a house has stood on the site since 560 AD. Rebuilt as an Edwardian country house, this luxury hotel is located in the scenic Wye valley between Hay-on-Wye and Brecon. Famously if was formerly owned by Laura Ashley co-founder Sir Bernard Ashley, and there are remnants of family life evident in photographs and artwork throughout the building.

“Thank you for the incredible photos you took of our wedding! We were absolutely thrilled to receive them, and so promptly too….far earlier than we had hoped to see them!”

“Most importantly though we were amazed and delighted by the memories you’ve captured! We had no idea you were in most of those places/conversations etc so to see them in our album was a complete delight!”

Llangoed Hall Wedding Photography

Wedding photography at Llangoed Hall offers a refined, timeless setting in the heart of the Welsh countryside. Located near the market town of Hay-on-Wye and on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, this historic country house hotel is renowned for its elegance, tranquillity, and exceptional attention to detail — all of which translate beautifully into wedding imagery.

Originally built in the 17th century and later transformed into a luxurious country house hotel, Llangoed Hall is steeped in history and character. Its grand façade, manicured gardens, and sweeping views across the Wye Valley create a sense of classic romance from the moment guests arrive. For photographers, this sense of arrival is ideal for capturing establishing shots that set the tone for the day — refined, relaxed, and unmistakably special.

Inside, the interiors are rich with period charm. Ornate fireplaces, antique furnishings, and soft, natural colour palettes provide a warm and elegant backdrop for preparations, ceremonies, and intimate moments throughout the day. Large windows allow natural light to flow through the rooms, making them perfect for capturing emotive, documentary-style photographs without distraction. Bridal portraits on the sweeping staircase or beside tall sash windows feel effortlessly timeless.

The gardens and grounds are one of Llangoed Hall’s greatest assets for wedding photography. Formal lawns, mature trees, and carefully landscaped terraces provide a variety of outdoor settings for couple portraits and group photographs. The surrounding countryside adds depth and scale, especially during golden hour when the light softens and the landscape takes on a warm glow. These moments often become highlights of the wedding gallery — quiet, romantic images away from the celebrations.

Llangoed Hall is also perfectly suited to smaller, elegant weddings where atmosphere and experience are paramount. The pace of the day is unhurried, allowing photographers to focus on storytelling — capturing subtle interactions, genuine laughter, and emotional moments as they naturally unfold.

Wedding photography at Llangoed Hall is about understated luxury, heritage, and atmosphere. It’s a venue that rewards careful observation and a natural approach, resulting in images that feel graceful, romantic, and truly timeless.

“Sacha was fantastic! I was very specific in wanting to capture the narrative of the day and that I wanted atmosphere over posed photographs.”

“I have a background in Fine Art and Sacha was the only wedding photographer I liked, so I was very happy that he was able to do our wedding. He even ran into the sea with us for some quirky shots in the wind and rain! He never complained despite getting soaked and the photos captured such a beautiful vibe of the day. I would highly recommend him.”

“Sacha was great in the lead up the wedding; listening and understanding what we wanted from the day as well as working with us to accommodate the different locations of the bridal party and ensuring photos were taken in all. On the day you hardly knew Sacha was there but the photos showed he was everywhere!! We are so happy and proud of the photos.”
