The heatwave was in full swing for Joanna and Bryson’s wedding at the Glanusk Park Estate on the 30th June 2018. As a South Wales wedding photographer we cannot always count on such beautiful weather, so I have been trying to make the most out of the ethereal sunlight that appears in the evening. Luckily Glanusk wallows perfectly in the warm glow that falls into the Usk Valley, whilst also benefiting from paramount views of the Welsh countryside. Photographic coverage started with the morning preparations, the bride was on the estate in the Lodge accommodation, whilst the chaps got ready at a nearby hotel, before heading off to Abergavenny’s St Marys Church for the marriage ceremony. The wedding reception took place in a marquee on the site of the old manor house, which was demolished due to fire damage after the army requisitioned it during the second world war. However the view of the Sugar Loaf mountain and unblemished surroundings more than makes up for its absence. The day continued with a few family photographs as guests chatted with each other as drinks were served under the shade of a large oak tree. The speeches followed a sumptuous meal, provided by renowned Welsh countryside caterers, Prickly Pear. Then a brief interlude as the band set up for the evening entertainment, whilst the congregated friends entertained themselves with a rather perilous game of lobbing lawn darts to each other. Fortune prevailed, as everyone made it to the dance floor injury free and ready to savour the remains of the day.
“These are perfect, thank you so much!!”
