Glanusk Estate Wedding Photography
Glanusk Estate is a privately owned estate run by the Legge-Bourke family, set within the breathtaking rural landscape of the Usk Valley near the charming town of Crickhowell in South Wales. Surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog), the estate offers an extraordinary backdrop for weddings, combining heritage, privacy, and natural beauty in equal measure.
The estate has been in the same family since 1826, when ironmaster Sir Joseph Bailey purchased the land and commissioned the construction of a grand mansion house. Although the original mansion was sadly demolished in 1952 after suffering significant damage during its requisition by the army in the Second World War, the estate has retained its grandeur and sense of history. Today, Penmyarth House, once the family’s winter residence, serves as the principal home and an elegant setting for intimate wedding celebrations.
For smaller ceremonies, the spacious drawing room at Penmyarth House can host up to 25 guests, offering a warm and refined atmosphere filled with natural light and period character. For couples planning a traditional church ceremony, the estate’s own private church, nestled beside the River Usk and reached via a picturesque walk through the grounds, can accommodate up to 100 guests. The approach alone provides beautiful photographic opportunities, with tree-lined paths and sweeping countryside views.
Beyond the house and church, Glanusk’s landscaped gardens and expansive parkland provide exceptional flexibility. The grounds can accommodate large marquees, allowing couples to create bespoke celebrations with panoramic mountain views as their backdrop. Accommodation is also plentiful, with Glanusk Lodge and several charming estate cottages available for overnight stays, enabling friends and family to fully immerse themselves in the weekend.
