On Saturday 26th May 2018 I photographed the summer wedding at Miskin Manor of Alice and James. I caught up with Alice and her close friends whilst they were getting ready in the morning at the hotel’s bridal suite. It is a beautiful decorated room with generous views across the hotel’s award winning garden. The marriage ceremony took place at St David’s Church in the village of Miskin, South Wales. The bride arrived slightly too early at the church, so a little trip around the block, which was not too much of a hardship in their chauffeured driven classic Jaguar. Once they were married, guest showered Alice and James in confetti as they made their way down the church. Once back at Miskin Manor guests were treated to drinks on the patio, allowing time to catch up with old friends and a few family photographs, before being called in for the wedding breakfast. Miskin Manor is one of those wedding venues where you could spend the whole day taking photographs, with so many picturesque locations on site. The trick with wedding photography, I believe, is getting the balance right between making the most of these views but also allowing time for the bride and groom to actually enjoy the day with people they have invited. One trick is make the most of the period after the speeches and the first dance, where sometimes there is a pause in celebrations and the summer season sun is just low enough in the sky to create a warm glow. I was very pleased to receive some very kind words from Alice and James after delivering their photography, with a complete lack of humility I share them below;
