Craig Y Nos Castle is a Victorian Gothic country house set in the countryside of Powys, Wales. Once owned by the renowned opera singer Adelina Patti, who made vast additions to the building, including adding a private auditorium. This grade I listed opera house was partly based on La Scala, Milan, but also incorporate features from Wagner’s Bayreuth Festpilhaus and Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London’s West End.The opening of which saw guests stay at the castle such as ambassadors, barons, business moguls and the worlds press. Today, 27th May 2018 it was to witness the marriage of Catherine and Matthew. It was no secret why they chose this South Wales wedding venue as the bride is a professional musical theatre actor. With many of her colleagues present it was one of the most entertaining of marriage ceremonies, often breaking out into song. In the morning the bride an dher family had hirs a sweet Welsh cottage to get ready in a short distance down the road. After the ceremony the gathered friends celebrated with chilled champagne in the front of this 19th century county home. The River Tawe runs below the castle and the bride and groom were happy to make the stroll down for a few portraits of just the two of them, making the most of the surroundings part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. After the drinks reception, guest were called into the former aviary, now conservatory for the wedding breakfast, where a few pre-dinner toasts were given by the fathers. My coverage ended here as Catherine & Matthew had opted for the half day option, but I am sure the rest of the day went on in a similar fun filled fashion.
