Here are some images from the final wedding I photographed in 2018. Rhian and Jonathan were married on 29th December 2018 at Holm House in Penarth, South Wales. The bride was getting ready on site in one of the generously proportioned bedrooms at this boutique hotel. Hair and make up were being applied and perfected to her an d the bridesmaids as the groom was downstairs greeting guests upon arrival. As with most of my weddings this couple wanted a laid back approach to their wedding photography, with just a handful of family group shots and just a few of posed portraits with them and their two lovely children. This allows for a sophisticated approach, allowing the day to flow naturally and time to enjoy the company of those who attended. As a documentary wedding photographer it is my job to find and capture naturally occurring moments that are worth savouring, friends chatting and laughing, children lost in a make believe world. It requires quite a bit more patience and observational skills, as you should not coerce or intrude, albeit the moment is gone and all you have then is a photographer’s translation of a pre-conceived idea. This ethos is something I take great pride in and have developed well earned reputation in my ability to achieve thorough photographic coverage without an imposing presence. Anyway back to todays photography, it was unseasonably mild at Holm House, so they made use of the gardens during the drinks reception and later on in the evening, the sparkler run!
