Owain and Abigail’s Christmas present to their respectively families was an outdoor portrait session. Thanks to the lockdown restrictions and varying weather conditions and scheduling logistics, is was not until May and June 2021 that we completed both shoots. We photographed Owain’s father and brother’s family at generous grounds of Porthkerry Country Park near Barry in South Wales. Abigail’s families’ portrait session took place in the sprawling magnificence of Bute Park in the shadow of Cardiff Castle. These outdoor portrait sessions are perfect for a more natural aesthetic. Children rarely want to stand still to pose for the camera, so it can be beneficial if you are able to capture them as they play or otherwise occupied. I first met Owain and Abigail, and their families when I photographed their wedding in 2016 at Llanerch Vineyard back in 2016. So it was lovely catching up with them again and continue documented their growing family.
