It was slightly overcast I set off on Saturday 11th May 2019 to provide some Monmouthshire wedding photography for Caroline and Anthony. However as the day proceeded the skies got clearer with each passing hour, eventually resulting in the rolling hillsides of this county of Wales being bathed in the warm golden glow of an evening sun. Caroline and Anthony had wisely chosen Maesbrook to host their wedding celebrations, which provides the perfect viewpoint to enjoy the gentle beauty of the Monmouthshire countryside. The bridal part and the groom’s side were both able to get ready on site thanks to a plethora of accommodation afforded at Maesbrook. Splitting my time between the two parties I was able to capture both sides in their preparations before they joined each other in the barn for the traditional exchange of rings and nuptials. Cooling drinks were served outside amongst the hay bales, though only once the guests had greeted the newly married couple with a barrage of confetti. Congratulations were given, old friends mingled and family photographs taken. Before too long it was time to return to the barn for the wedding breakfast, where local catering firm Prickly Pear had provided a rustic feast. Speeches were given throughout meal, and we even made time to capture some of the early evening sun before the best man gave his speech and whilst everyone was finishing their delicious desserts. As night time approached Caroline and Anthony cut their wedding cake and performed their first dance as a married couple. Then once darkness fell, sparklers were lit to illuminate the scene, whilst the sound of drinking and laughter filled the night air.
“These were wonderful, thank you!”
