Early in July of 2022 I was back at the Great Tythe Barn to photograph the Cotswolds wedding of Shai and Michelle. First I meet up with the groom as he was having a drink with his best-man and friends at the Snooty Fox, a charming inn located on the market square of Tetbury, the quintessential Cotswold town. Meanwhile, the bride was getting ready in one of the quaint cottages that surround the large barn back at wedding venue. The actual marriage ceremony took place outside amongst the manicured country gardens, where an oak beamed folly was dressed in summer flowers. Like a lot of couples these days, Shai and Michelle meet through the internet via a dating site. Though their journey started during the covid induced restrictions, when dating was but of a logistical nightmare. Nevertheless they made it work, and work well, resulting in this delicious wedding day. Once married the guests were lined up by the staff at the Great Tythe Barn, so they could shower the newlyweds with confetti and bubbles. Drinks were enjoyed under the summer sun before the wedding breakfast was served in the welcomed shade of the main barn. By the time the food was consumed and the speeches delivered, the evening sun was casting over a warm glow. So as the guests entertained themselves with some lawn games and the newlyweds had practised their first dance in the car park, we explored the country fields behind the barn. Here, the golden light could fall unhindered onto the happy couple as they took a moment to savour their special day.
