Wedding Photography at Fairyhill – Dora & Dominic

Despite a rather soggy start to this June 2025 Fairyhill wedding, Dora and Dominic decided to gamble on an outdoor ceremony — and it paid off beautifully. As the time approached, the clouds parted just in time for guests to take their seats in the stunning landscaped gardens at Fairyhill, one of the most sought-after wedding venues in Gower, South Wales. Designed perfectly for outdoor ceremonies, the gardens provided an incredible backdrop for their heartfelt vows.

My photographic coverage as a Fairyhill wedding photographer began with bridal preparations at the venue itself. Getting ready on site at Fairyhill allows the story of the day to unfold naturally and without stress. Dora wore a dress designed by her soon-to-be mother-in-law, the renowned bridal designer Stephanie Allin, a truly special and personal touch. A lucky bride indeed, and particularly so as Stephanie retired later that same year.

Following the sun-drenched outdoor ceremony, the newlyweds led their guests to the front garden at Fairyhill for drinks and congratulations. This part of the day is always one of my favourites to photograph. I often recommend keeping formal group photographs to a minimum at this stage — just a handful of key group shots and a couple of relaxed portraits of the bride and groom — allowing guests to mingle, unwind and enjoy the atmosphere before the wedding breakfast.

The wedding breakfast was served in the modern extension of this Grade II listed Georgian country house, a beautiful contrast of historic charm and contemporary design. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls offered uninterrupted views of the surrounding tree canopy, flooding the space with natural light, ideal conditions for wedding photography in Gower.

After the meal and speeches, the celebrations moved back outdoors, where guests enjoyed a selection of lawn games including giant Connect Four, badminton and cornhole. For a wedding photographer during a summer wedding in South Wales, this is golden time. With food enjoyed and drinks flowing, guests relax completely, and the long summer evenings create endless opportunities for candid, joy-filled photographs.

That relaxed, fun-loving energy naturally carried through to the dance floor as the celebrations continued into the night. Days like this are a perfect reminder of why Fairyhill is such a special venue and why I love being a Fairyhill wedding photographer, capturing relaxed, story-driven weddings across Gower and South Wales.
