Here is some photography I produced for Nali and Alex, who hosted their wedding day at the Great Tythe Barn near Tetbury. The day was beautifully warm day in late July 2021, quite the contrast to the last time I was at this Cotswolds wedding venue, when a blanket of snow covered the grounds. I started my photographic coverage in the morning with the Nali and her bridal party as they prepared for the day within the large manor house on site. The groom and his ushers meanwhile were getting ready in one of the nearby cottages that surrounds the barn itself. The marriage ceremony took place at the majestic St Mary’s Church in the town of Tetbury itself. Despite the size of this place of worship, the vicar here is quite strict to where a photographer can stand during the ceremony and when photographs can be taken. Though through a combination of polite reassurance and years of experience of photographing weddings with such limitations I managed to capture the essence of the ceremony without intrusion. Once the newlyweds had work down the aisle, the gathered family and friends could pass on their congratulations to the happy couple in the fresh air of the church yard. The drinks reception took place back at the Great Tythe Barn. Here Nali and Alex were greeted with a shower of confetti. As the day progressed the light conditions were that, which a wedding photographer secretly hopes for. The evening sun was set low in the sky, casting a warm golden glow across the scene. The formality of the after dinner speeches had taken place, guests were relaxed in the garden, there was a suitable window of time for some natural portraits of the bride and groom as their enjoyed their wedding venue with a romantic walk. As the sun set the drinks began to flow, and a saxophonist accompanied the disc jockey’s play list, the urge to dance was too powerful to withhold, so an improvised dance floor was created on the lawn, and weddings began slowly to look like they should.
