Miriam and Sam held their restricted wedding in South Wales on Tuesday 6th April 2021. The covid rules in the principality meant the numbers of guest were kept low to ensure socially distancing would be maintained within the church. The happy couple had originally planned to have their wedding reception at the groom’s family owned Brynach Barn, a local and well respected wedding venue. There was of course no reception as such, but the delightful ceremony at St Brynach Church in the village of Llanfrynach and the surrounding beauty of the Brecon Beacons National Park was a satisfying way to mark the occasion. It could have been a little warmer perhaps, the bride and groom left the church in an open top car, only having to resort on the journey home to sanctuary of a petrol station forecourt to investigate how to elevate the roof of the convertible.
It had been 108 days since my last paid assignment and my goodness I could not help thinking how lovely it was to be back working. I have never felt more appreciative towards what I do for a living. As with everyone within the wedding industry there has been a forced hiatus during the strict government guidelines prohibiting social events. Though this has really underlined what it means to be able to gather with friends and family and celebrate. A wedding celebration being the epitome of reasons to celebrate together, be it chatting over a drink, sharing a meal or dancing the night away. In time this will come, as we head towards mid summer with the expectation of a return to normality.
