I photographed the wedding of Lucy and Jacob in South Wales on Saturday 16th July 2016. The day started with photographing the bridal preparations at Lucy’s parent’s beautiful home in Monmouthshire, where a marquee had been pitched on the front lawn for later in the day, when the drinks reception and wedding breakfast would be served. I am not sure what I will remember this wedding for the most, the surprise belly dancer that appearred late in the evening or the how I first saw the father of bride, striding over the patio in a dressing gown, carrying three bottles of champagne!
“Wow. Just wow! The photos are absolutely beautiful! We honestly cannot thank you enough!!!
We are totally blown away and over the moon!”
The marriage ceremony took place at the historic St Mary’s Priory Church in the nearby market town of Usk. Rebuilt in 1405 after Owain Glyndwr’s destructive rebellion swept through the town, the site was originally established as a Benedictine priory by Richard de Clare in 1160. The pride of St Mary’s today is the beautifully carved 15th century chancel screen. This exquisite piece of craftsmanship is one of the finest screens in Wales, and though which I photographed the happy couple exchanging wedding rings.
