Earlier this year in the summer season, Sophie and David held their wedding on Saturday 29th July 2017. The venue was the Oxwich Bay Hotel nestled right next to the beach on the beautiful peninsular of Gower in South Wales. Shortly after arriving, I was greeted with the sight of a pajamaed bride with veil attached striding across the front lawn of the hotel. Somehow Sophie managed to be the definition of elegance as she changed locations when the bridal suite became available to continue her bridal preparations. The groom was not far behind, with his best-man marching purposefully though the rounds to greet early guests. The ceremony was in the hotel’s function room, decorated with rough cut stone and enormous timber joists. One of my favourite images of the day is of David waiting at the ‘alter’ with his eyes nervously looking upwards as is searching for courage from the heavens above. Following the ceremony, the wedding guests congratulated the happy couple with hugs, kisses and the obligatory smart phone photograph. Once the confetti was thrown, the newly married pair led their family and friends the hotel’s marquee for the wedding reception. The best feature of this wedding venues is the fact it is right next to the beach, whilst is does get pretty busy with tourists when the weather is fair, it does provide a marvellous backdrop for a few portraits of the bride and groom. It is also a little respite for the bride and groom providing a few moments of reflection together away from the throngs of well wishers. It is was time for the wedding breakfast to be served, which was followed by the speeches and special treat of surprise singing waiters.
