I was very excited to photograph my first wedding at Old Gore. Part of the Cripps & Co wedding venue collection, it is managed by Baz and Fred of Yard Space Events, to provide a unique street food based wedding experience. The converted barn in the heart of the Cotswolds, boasts unspoilt rural views as well as an asado fire pit. This South American term for a social barbecue is a wood or charcoal fired method of open-air roasting or slow char-grilling. I was at Old Gore on 15th September 2022, to photograph the wedding of Alex and Chris. My day started with the bridal preparations at The Swan in Bibury, a quintessential Cotswold country inn. I also swung by to the groom before meeting up again at the Old Gore for the marriage ceremony. The venue’s converted barn for the ceremony, now with full length windows instead of threshing doors which provides splendid natural light. It also benefits from a separate bar and banquet style seating in the side barn. All of which overlooks the main garden where the fire pit enjoys the farmland vista. The bride and groom who have veterinary and farming backgrounds, could not of been more at home. During the time they explored the grounds together, which allowed for a few natural portraits, they would be often distracted by the choice of crops and livestock in attendance. There was no formal music or dancing in the evening, so my photographic coverage ended as they toasted marshmallows over the fire pits in the cool night air.
