Insole Court Wedding Photography
Wedding photography from Insole Court, Cardiff, South Wales
A collection of images and blog posts featuring my Insole Court wedding photography. This striking Grade II listed mansion and gardens was originally built in 1856 by James Harvey Insole, whose family amassed wealth through South Wales’ booming coal industry and maritime trade. The estate was later expanded between 1905 and 1909 by his son, George Frederick Insole, who doubled the size of the house during a time of Edwardian prosperity.
However, the family’s fortunes declined following the First World War. In 1932, the estate was purchased by the city of Cardiff, and much of the original gardens were repurposed for roads and housing developments. In more recent years, Insole Court served the local community but gradually fell into disrepair.
Thanks to the dedication of a local action group and the support of lottery and charitable funding, the estate has since been beautifully restored. Today, the stables and outbuildings have been transformed into event spaces, a charming café, and a gift shop.
Insole Court hosts a limited number of weddings each year, accommodating up to 90 daytime guests and 150 in the evening. They offer a variety of in-house packages as well as collaborations with some of South Wales’ top catering companies—including options for street food lovers.
