A More Natural Approach to Wedding Photography

Here are some examples of my Crug Glas wedding photography taken on previous assignments. Crug Glas Country House is a converted farm house set in 600 acres of land rural Welsh countryside. This Pembrokeshire wedding venue, is a short distance from the small city of St Davids and offers easy access to the area’s world-famous coast. Crug Glas farm can be dated back to the 12th century, where it was mentioned in the Black Book of St Davids, a chronicle of local farms, manors and estates. These days the milking parlour has been restored into a comfortable function room, perfect for wedding receptions.

“What an amazing delivery to come back to after our honeymoon! Thank you so much for everything you did on our day. We are more than pleased with the results and can’t stop looking at them! They are amazing and truly capture the day.”

Crug Glas Country House Wedding Photography

Wedding photography at Crug Glas Country House in Pembrokeshire offers a composed and intimate setting within the West Wales countryside. Privately owned and set within established gardens and open grounds, the venue provides a calm and contained environment well suited to couples seeking a smaller, exclusive celebration. Its scale and rural surroundings allow for focused, uninterrupted photographic coverage throughout the day.

A Private Country Setting

Crug Glas is approached via a tree-lined drive, creating a sense of arrival while maintaining privacy from the surrounding area. The country house itself presents a traditional façade, framed by lawns and mature planting. For photography, this layout supports structured group photographs close to the building, while also offering quieter garden spaces for relaxed portraits.

The grounds are practical and accessible, allowing movement between ceremony, reception and outdoor areas without delay. Open lawns provide clean backgrounds for family formals, while hedged borders, trees and seasonal planting introduce texture and natural depth for couple portraits. The rural Pembrokeshire landscape beyond the immediate gardens contributes additional visual interest without overwhelming the composition.

Ceremony and Interior Coverage

Crug Glas is licensed for civil ceremonies, enabling the entire wedding day to take place on site. The ceremony room is modest in scale, encouraging an intimate atmosphere that translates well in photographs. Natural light entering through traditional windows supports clear and balanced imagery, particularly during key moments such as vows and ring exchanges.

Interior spaces within the house maintain a classic country style, with neutral tones and traditional furnishings. These elements create a consistent visual narrative from preparations through to the reception. Smaller rooms are particularly suited to documentary-style coverage, allowing photographers to capture expressions and interactions without distraction.

Reception and Evening Photography

The dining and reception areas at Crug Glas are arranged to accommodate gatherings comfortably while retaining a sense of closeness. For speeches, the compact layout enables comprehensive coverage of both speakers and guest reactions within a single frame. Table settings and floral arrangements are easily documented within the understated surroundings.

As the celebration moves into the evening, interior lighting becomes warmer, creating a relaxed atmosphere for first dances and informal moments. The contained nature of the venue allows photographers to work discreetly, preserving the natural flow of the event.

A Cohesive and Intimate Experience

One of the principal strengths of Crug Glas as a wedding venue is exclusivity. With the house typically reserved for one wedding at a time, couples benefit from privacy and a clear, uninterrupted schedule. This continuity supports thoughtful photographic coverage, ensuring that no part of the day feels rushed.

In summary, wedding photography at Crug Glas Country House is defined by intimacy, privacy and rural character. Its manageable scale, natural surroundings and cohesive layout provide a reliable and refined setting for documenting a wedding day with clarity and restraint.

“Sacha was fantastic! I was very specific in wanting to capture the narrative of the day and that I wanted atmosphere over posed photographs.”

“I have a background in Fine Art and Sacha was the only wedding photographer I liked, so I was very happy that he was able to do our wedding. He even ran into the sea with us for some quirky shots in the wind and rain! He never complained despite getting soaked and the photos captured such a beautiful vibe of the day. I would highly recommend him.”
