On Friday 5th May 2017 I travelled across the Welsh countryside to the west coast town of Aberaeron. I was here to photograph the same sex wedding of Daniel and Paul. The marriage ceremony was performed in front of a modest collection of close friends and family, in the converted stables at Llanerchaeron. This elegant Georgian villa, set in the wooded Aeron valley is remarkably unaltered for over 200 years, and remains a self-sufficient estate including a farm, walled gardens and lake. Celebratory drinks and nibbles were served in the courtyard, bathed in glorious spring sunshine. After a while the whole wedding party was transported to the Harbourmaster Hotel, a West Wales mecca of good food. Set in the former harbourmaster’s house dating back to the early 1800s, this colourful quayside hotel has build a well deserved reputation for its culinary delights. Upon arrival guests enjoyed a harbour side drink before they were called inside for lunch. This was were my photographic coverage ended, I only accept a handful of these shorter wedding days, but they act as a nice juxtaposition to the normal full day photographic that has become the norm in the last few years.
