On October 10th 2014 I was commissioned to be the photographer for the wedding of Claire and Philip. The day started in Penarth, South Wales for the bridal preparations before travelling to the beautiful Catholic Church of St Mary of the Angels in Cardiff for the marriage ceremony. The wedding reception took place at Pencoed House, a private estate just out side the capital city.
The origins of the Pencoed House Estate remain the subject of much debate, but it seems most likely that it was built by Jevan ap David, a Welsh notable, in the early fifteenth century. The inclusion of the pointed Gothic stone arch in the house’s architecture has suggested to some that the house began life as a small monastery. Whatever the origins the present owners have done a tremendous job of renovating the banquet hall making it into a very popular wedding venue.
