I photographed the wedding of Kerrie and Richard on Saturday 12th February 2011, my second wedding of the new year. The bridal preparations were held in the wonderful bridal suite at Miskin Manor in South Wales and the marriage ceremony at St Dyfrig’s Catholic Church in Treforest, it was then back to Miskin Manor for the wedding reception. The winter sun was making an intermittent appearance, so we timed the ten minutes or so that is spent on the bride and groom portraits for a break in the clouds. As a photographer it is great having nice light to play with and it is no coincidence that a lot of the wedding planning blogs feature wedding photography from Australia and California, unfortunately in the UK this sunshine can never by guaranteed, but this does result in you becoming able to adapt and create interesting photographs in any weather conditions.
The rest of the day featured some great speeches and later in the evening a roulette wheel and blackjack table. I have seen a casino like this a couple times before at weddings and I always think it works well, especially to fill that time between the end of the speeches and the first dance. The casino tables were supplied by ‘Deal A Party’ based in Cardiff and the evening disco by Justin Banwell, who coincidentally provided the disco for my daughter birthday party last year, so it was nice to see him again.
