The first wedding for which I was commissioned to photograph in 2011 saw me in London for the union of Mandy and David on Saturday 8th Januray. I travelled to the capital the day before to do a dry run of the locations, the reception venue was Haymarket Hotel which is a stone throw away from Trafalgar Sqaure. Whilst there I could not resist a quick peek into the National Gallery, it has been years since I was last there and has some of my favourite paintings namely Vincent Van Gogh’s Chair, Sunflowers and A Wheatfield with Cypresses. The vast collection is housed in such a magnificent building and is all the more amazing considering there is no entry fee, a refreshing change after visiting the Musee d’Orsay in Paris and New York’s Metropolitan a few years ago.
After the bridal preparations it was a short journey to St. Luke’s Church in Hampstead, after a lovely service and a glass of champagne in the church foyer, the guests were then transported to the hotel in two old route-master buses. Mandy and Sophie managed to oraganise a great wedding, creating a lovely atmosphere which their guests could relax and enjoy the day.
