Wedding Photography Prices & Information
How Much Does Wedding Photography Cost?

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY PRICES
Every wedding is different so in an effort to be flexible towards your photographic needs my fee and hourly rate is dependent on the length of coverage you require.
To tell the whole story of the wedding day and provide a complete narrative, the most popular level of coverage is the full day coverage. This generally starts a couple of hours before the ceremony time during the bridal preparations (depending on logistics some of this time can include the grooms prep) and then continue throughout the day until the dancing is well under way.
Other options include half day and bespoke hourly coverage, that may be suitable for smaller mid week or winter weddings. Alternatively you can also extend coverage to include the late night dancing or add bespoke additional hours as required.
Please note on Saturdays from April though to September there is a minimum fee that equates to the full day rate.

WEDDING ALBUMS
It is quite an honour providing wedding photography, not only securing memories for the bride and groom but by also producing a printed product, you are creating a family heirloom. The wedding album and photo-book both include a design service, where a proof of the layout will be provided for you to approve or amend as required. They can hold any number of images and pages, so prices will vary according to how many images you would like to include and how many pages are required to accommodate your chosen layout design. Once you have received your gallery, just ‘favourite’ your chosen images and let me know when this is complete and I will provide a layout proof and quote before the design is finalised.
PHOTO ALBUMS
These are high end products, finely crafted with archival materials to ensure longevity. Printed and bound in the United Kingdom using fine art paper, from sustainable sources, they represent an environmentally conscious album option even down to their carbon neutral delivery.
All albums include bespoke page layout design that is proofed for any amendments and your final approval. Made to order so you can choose different cover materials and colours, you can also add and subtract pages to accommodate any number of images.
Price example: £550 – 12×12 inch de-bossed leather cover with 650gsm heavy weight fine art paper, 16 pages/32 sides (suitable for 80-100 images)
If you opt to pre-order £175 will be added to your coverage fee as a down payment. The balance for the album is then payable once the design has been approved after the wedding.
PHOTO BOOKS
Alternatively there is an option of a photo book. The pages are made from high quality photographer paper bound in a personalised hardback cover. The understated yet premium book binding construction not only allows the pages to lay flat, it can accommodate a large amount of images whilst avoiding the bulk of a traditional album.
As with the albums, the photo book includes a bespoke page layout design, that is proofed for your amendments and final approval. Photo books are made to order, so can accommodate any number of images and pages, the price will vary accordingly
Price example: £350 (80 images) or £450 (up to 150 images) – 12×12 inch hardback cover with 300gsm photographic paper pages.
If you opt to pre-order £175 will be added to your coverage fee as a down payment. The balance for the book is then payable once the design has been approved after the wedding.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO YOU APPROACH PHOTOGRAPHING A WEDDING?
My approach is friendly yet low key, I simply wish to provide an honest and emotive pictorial record of the day. I have photographed many different type of weddings, and the one thing that all the brides and grooms have in common is the desire to ‘enjoy the day’. Whilst they do require good photography, they also want to spend as much time as possible with close family and friends to make the memories that are worth capturing. This approach is sometimes known as wedding photojournalism, reportage or documentary, you can read some more information on this subject by following this link, documentary wedding photography. As a medium, photography has yet to be surpassed in its ability to freeze a moment in time and transport you back when viewing the image in years to come. It is this timelessness that I endeavour to incorporate in my approach to wedding photography.
WILL THERE BE ANY POSED PHOTOGRAPHY?
These are at your discretion, I am happy to arrange a handful of group photographs of close family and friends and a few portraits of just the two of you to utilise the surroundings. They do not need to take up too much time, allowing you to enjoy the company of your guests for the vast majority of the day.
DO YOU JUST PROVIDE SOUTH WALES WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY OR DO YOU TRAVEL?
Yes, I am very happy to travel throughout the whole of the United Kingdom and overseas, if scheduling permits. Travel expenses are included unless overnight accommodation if deemed advisable due to distance or time, international destinations are charged at cost.
WHEN DO WE GET TO SEE OUR PHOTOGRAPHS?
Due to the bespoke nature of your photographs and the great care taken to individually post process each image to a professional standard I do ask that you allow two to six weeks for the delivery of your images.
WILL THE PHOTOGRAPHS BE IN COLOUR OR BLACK & WHITE?
I will provide a good mix of colour and black and white photography. I personally edit and process all of the pictures, and will judge each image on its merit. Generally speaking an image will look best one way or another, though sometimes I will provide both. I tend to use colour for the formal parts of the day and when the natural light is more prominent, making the skin tones look amazing. Black and white is useful when the artificial ambient lighting has a strong colour cast, or if the scene has distracting colours that distracts from the subject matter. Though I realise this can be a personal preference, and you can inform me of this during the booking process.
DO YOU HAVE A BACK UP PLAN IF YOU ARE ILL ON THE DAY?
Rest assured the situation would have to be very serious for me not to be able to photograph a wedding. Though if the need arises I am part of a massive network of photographers who all agree to cover for each other.
DO YOU RECOMMEND A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER?
I generally photograph weddings solo, simply because I feel it provides for a more natural and pleasing perspective, plus you and your guests will not feel like you are surrounded by the cameras all day. I receive a lot of compliments from past clients praising my ability to get the photographs of those special moments without them realising I was there. However if logistics prevent this singular approach then I am happy to source a second photographer for your wedding, though this will incur an additional fee.
CAN WE MEET YOU IN PERSON BEFORE BOOKING?
Yes of course, you are more than welcome to arrange a personal meeting or schedule a video call. Alternatively, you are equally welcome to ask me any further questions over email or telephone. I am pretty easy going, so happy to work with your preference.
DO YOU SUPPLY PHOTO ALBUMS?
It is quite an honour providing wedding photography, not only securing memories for the bride and groom but by also producing a printed product, you are creating a family heirloom. I offer albums printed and bound within the United Kingdom, from one of the finest manufacturers in the world. Alternatively there is an option of a photo book. The pages are made from high quality 300gsm photographer paper bound in a personalised hardback cover. You can see further information at wedding albums.
WHAT CAMERAS DO YOU USE?
A lot of my clients have an interest in photography and I occasional get asked this question. I photograph weddings with a pair of Leica cameras. This brand helped to pioneer the art of reportage photography when they developed the discreet rangefinder bodies, that were used by legends such as Henri Cartier-Bresson. Whilst they still make these manual focus camera bodies in their M series, I have opted to embrace auto-focus with their mirrorless SL series. Teamed with a series of prime lenses ensures I do not miss any of the action.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD ASK?
It is worth noting I am a full time, professional photographer, and so my livelihood relies solely on pleasing my wedding clients, which I think is alway a little reassuring when employing a supplier. You can read more about my client’s experiences on my reviews page. I have both professional indemnity insurance and public liability cover, which some venues will require.
CAN YOU GIVE ME ANY FURTHER ADVICE?
This will more than likely be the first time you have researched and booked the services of a professional photographer. The wedding industry can be confusing at times and a little intimidating at first. In which case you may find these guide articles useful, How To Choose A Wedding Photographer and How To Plan The Perfect Wedding.
