Coombe Lodge Wedding Photography
Somerset wedding photographer at Coombe Lodge
Below are entires from my wedding journal that feature some of my previous Coombe Lodge wedding photography assignments. Coombe Lodge is an exclusive country mansion nestled at the foot of the Mendip Hills near the village of Blagdon in Somerset. It was built by the Wills family who owned a tobacco company in the nearby city of Bristol. Built on the foundations of a 18th century house, the mansion you see today was completed in 1932. Designed by the renowned Sir George Oatley, it is made from Bath stone with a Cotswold stone roof in a Jacobean architectural aesthetic. The wood panelled corridor and lobby make for an elegant setting for the drinks reception if shelter is required from the. Alternatively the manicured gardens that surround the mansion provide a beautiful exterior landscape when the British climate allows. And for those perfect summer days, there is even an option to host your marriage ceremony outside within the three walled alcove provided at the rear of the house. Otherwise the light and airy music room, with its large bay windows overlooking the front gardens can host both the ceremony and the wedding breakfast for up to 160 people. There is also accomodation on site, with twelve large and sumptuously decorated bedrooms located on the upper floors of the main. A further ten bedrooms can found in the latest addition to the estate, namely the secluded garden house, which is only a short walking distance from the mansion.
“We genuinely don’t know how to thank you for giving us the most beautiful wedding photographs. We hardly noticed you were there most of the time, yet somehow you managed to capture such happiness, laughter and emotion – a true reflection of our special day. We cannot stop looking at them and reliving all of the wonderful memories.”
