A socially distanced wedding is definitely a sign of the times. Obviously thanks to the pandemic large events have been unable to go ahead. Thus few weddings have proceeded during the summer of 2020. Though Katherine and Michael decided to go ahead with their marriage ceremony on 15th August. Postponing their planned large celebration with all of their family and friends until next year. Today they were joined by just immediate family for the ceremony at the registry office at Cardiff City Hall. They also asked me along to capture the nuptials being exchanged to provide a little photographic record of this unique event. The registry office had prepared the ceremony room with spaced out chairs and strict instructions not to move during the ceremony, maintaining the two metres as required by government guidelines. Afterwards there was a socially distanced group shot outside and then the bride and groom walked through Cathays Parks to Alexandra Gardens for a couple of portraits. It certainly was an experience in unusual times and personally it was lovely to get back to photographing special events, albeit in a truncated fashion. I very much look forward to joining Katherine and Michael again in 2021 when they will be celebrating in style with a large party at Margam Orangery.
