On January 18th 2014 I photographed the wedding of Lucy and Matthew, in what was becoming one of the wettest starts to a year since records began. The day started with the bridal preparations at Lucy’s parents home in Porthcawl, before popping around the corner to cover a few minutes of the groom and his ushers getting ready. This was all within a stones throw away from Gilgal Baptist Church where the marriage ceremony was to take place.
The wedding reception was hosted at Oldwalls, located in the countryside in the centre of the Gower Peninsula in South Wales. In a brief dry spell we did managed to get outside for a couple of photographs of the bride and groom but had to stay on paved surfaces thanks to the heavy rainfall, but the respite from the rain did last long leading to a tactical retreat to the marquee for the group photographs.
The majority of new wedding commissions comes from recommendations, so it is always lovely to see past clients and so it was today, as one of the bridesmaids was another Lucy whose wedding I photographed last summer at Margam Orangery.
