This was the first time I have photographed a wedding at Kingscote Barn in the Costwolds. Hannah and Leon held their wedding here on this beautiful sunny day in June 2022. Located amongst rolling hills of Gloucestershire, on Binley Farm. This 400 acre working farm provides space amongst its arable crop and flock of sheep to host weddings and events within its secluded rural valley. Originally part of The Kingscote Estate., which was acquired by the historic Kingscote family through marriage to the Berkeley family in the 12th century. It remained within their ownership continuously for 800 years until 1932. It was sold to timber merchants, whose interest was mainly to do with the exceptional beech woodlands within the property. Six years later the present owners, the Gale family moved to Binley Farm. During their stewardship, a more modern farmyard was built, leaving the historic threshing barn idle, until a restoration project was undertaken in 2003 to maintain and restore the original limestone structures.
On the morning of this wedding, Hannah was getting ready at Kingscote Barn most recent addition, the new dressing room. Which once housed a herd of hand milked shorthorn cows, today it is now a delightful space to prepare for your wedding day. The marriage ceremony took place outside under the summer sun on the barn’s manicured lawn. Reception drinks were served in the barn where horse drawn carts were once stored and the wedding breakfast served in the main barn where sacks of grain and wool once were stored. Today the flagstones benefit from underfloor heating as natural light pours in from the now glazed threshing doorway. There was even a fenced areas where children (and big children) could safely play lawn games.
“I love them all so much ??? thank you again for capturing such wondering memories!”
