On Saturday 28th May 2011 I was asked to document the wedding of Helen and Chris, whose ceremony was held at Holy Cross Church in Cowbridge, South Wales. The reception was hosted by Helen’s parents at their home in the nearby village of Prisk. They had evidently been working very hard to get the house and grounds ready and a kind neighbour had lent them the use of a field to pitch their marquee. In the morning they had been heavy rain and high winds and was not looking promising at all, but by the time of the marriage service the weather behaved itself and the garden dried sufficently to host the drinks reception. One of my favourite photographs from today is of Helen’s grandfather, who had travelled down from Scotland, he his dressed in his suit and sat quietly t in the kitchen with a cup of tea, patiently waiting for the celebrations to begin.
