A More Natural Approach to Wedding Photography

Here are some examples of my Devon wedding photography. Each post represents a few favourite images from each wedding that I have photographed in the country of Devon. This is a stunningly beautiful county, boasting two picturesque coast lines, on its north and south borders. The lower being nicknamed the English Riviera. In land the Dartmoor National Park belongs wholly to Devon, whilst it shares the Exmoor National Park with its neighbour, Somerset. Wedding venues in this beautiful county of England include, Ash Barton and Bovey Castle. So if you are currently planning your wedding, and looking for a Devon wedding photographer who can capture your day with natural and emotive imagery, please do not hesitate to get in touch. My approach to wedding photography is friendly yet unobtrusive, designed to let you enjoy your day whilst I capture the essence with an understated reportage aesthetic. I work tirelessly to please my clients and so very proud of the feedback I hear from client comments.

“Sacha was absolutely fantastic. We were looking for a photographer that took natural photographs that gave a true representation of our day. From the first communication with Sacha he was incredibly helpful and professional and understood exactly what we wanted.”

He was a true gentleman and everyone felt very relaxed in his company. He has a knack of blending in to the background which allowed him to take beautifully natural photographs. We will cherish our photos forever and will be always grateful ”

Devon Wedding Photography

Devon wedding photography offers a unique blend of dramatic coastline, rolling countryside, and characterful rural venues — making it one of the most visually diverse counties in the UK to get married. From windswept clifftops to rustic barns and elegant country houses, Devon provides an exceptional range of backdrops that lend themselves beautifully to natural, storytelling imagery.

One of the defining features of Devon is its landscape. The rugged beauty of Dartmoor delivers atmospheric, open scenery with moody skies and sweeping tors, ideal for couples wanting bold, cinematic portraits. In contrast, the golden beaches and soft coastal light along Saunton Sands or Woolacombe Beach create a relaxed, romantic aesthetic — particularly during golden hour when the light is warm and diffused.

Devon is also home to an array of distinctive wedding venues. Estates such as Ash Barton Estate offer rustic charm and creative freedom, while coastal venues provide panoramic sea views that add scale and drama to wedding imagery. The county’s barn venues, often set within working farms or private estates, combine textured stone walls, exposed timber beams, and expansive grounds — all of which photograph exceptionally well in both natural and low-light conditions.

From a technical perspective, Devon’s ever-changing weather demands adaptability. Photographers working in the region are accustomed to shifting cloud cover, sea breezes, and fast-moving light. This variability can be an advantage, creating dynamic skies and depth in outdoor images. Embracing the environment rather than resisting it often results in the most authentic and memorable photographs.

Ultimately, Devon wedding photography is defined by atmosphere. Whether couples choose coastal, countryside, or moorland settings, the county provides a rich visual palette that allows their story to be captured with depth, texture, and a genuine sense of place.

“Sacha was fantastic! I was very specific in wanting to capture the narrative of the day and that I wanted atmosphere over posed photographs.”

“I have a background in Fine Art and Sacha was the only wedding photographer I liked, so I was very happy that he was able to do our wedding. He even ran into the sea with us for some quirky shots in the wind and rain! He never complained despite getting soaked and the photos captured such a beautiful vibe of the day. I would highly recommend him.”

“Sacha was great in the lead up the wedding; listening and understanding what we wanted from the day as well as working with us to accommodate the different locations of the bridal party and ensuring photos were taken in all. On the day you hardly knew Sacha was there but the photos showed he was everywhere!! We are so happy and proud of the photos.”
