On December the 12th 2015 I photographed the wedding of Claire and Ian at the Angel Hotel in Abergavenny, South Wales. It was in the middle of the wet and windy month that broke records for rainfall in the UK, so there was little chance to get outside. However the Angel Hotel lends itself well to winter weddings, with a bright and airy ballroom that acted as the location for the marriage ceremony and wedding breakfast. We did get slightly outside in the evening, we braved the cold only briefly to photograph a night time portrait of the bride and groom in the doorway at the front fo the hotel, where they were illuminated by the Christmas lights.
The Angel Hotel was built in 1829, and acted as Georgian coaching inn, the present owners took over the running of this traditional hotel in 2002, when they began the painstaking operation to return the building to its former glory.
