Wedding photography from Katie and James’ special day, featuring an outdoor marriage ceremony at the Gate House in Usk Castle, Monmouthshire, South Wales. The little river town was coping well with two big events on Saturday 2nd July 2016, the wedding of Katie and James and the annual food festival. The bridal preparations took place in the town house of the bride’s parents, whilst guests were arriving at the Gate House in Usk Castle. The Gate House or Castle House has been much altered through the centuries, but the castle dates back to the 1100’s. In 1925 Castle House, and its grounds including the castle ruins, were purchased for £525 by Rudge Humphreys, whose family still own and live on the estate today.
Just wanted to say a massive thank you for our wedding pics, just picked them up from the post office and couldn’t wait to open them! We love love them.
You really couldn’t have done a better job, we’re really happy!
The weather was rather changeable during the morning, it look rather promising for the outdoor ceremony with the sun basking the location, but rather predictably as if scripted for a film, the heavens opened during the exchange of vows. The wedding party was protected by the cover of the Gate House, though the guests had to rely on those with the foresight to bring an umbrella. Though as quickly as the rains came they disappeared, allowing the congregation to celebrate the happy union in the returning sunshine. James’s father rather generously lent him a beautiful restored (if not temperamental) Aston Martin DB5 to drive his new bride away for the wedding reception, hosted at his family home. Where a festival marquee had been pitched in the garden that possessed quite a majestic view, enjoyed by everyone as the celebrations continued.
