When Suzanne and James asked me to photograph their concert hall wedding, I was delighted as the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama is one of favourite wedding venues in Cardiff. Based in the heart of the capital, its floor to ceiling glass walled atrium allows a picturesque view of Bute Park and Coopers Field. As with any wedding I photograph, the coverage is at the discretion of the bride and groom. Today Suzanne and James preferred for the coverage to start at the wedding ceremony location, which was the concert hall of the college. The Dora Stoutzker Hall was the first purpose built recital hall in Wales and provides a dramatic backdrop to be married in. The ceremony is performed on the stage and the guests seated in the theatre rows. Dressed in black tie, the family and friends assembled today resembled a scene from the Baftas seated as they were in anticipation. The drinks reception took place at The Anthony Hopkins Centre, part of the college but housed a short distance away in the former stables of Cardiff Castle. Here the guests greeted the newly married couple with confetti as drinks were served. Later in the day everyone was invited to walk through the tree lined avenue towards Cardiff Castle and then back through the park to the wedding breakfast. The speeches were great fun and this theme continued into the evening with a dress up photo booth and vodka ice luge.
“Thank you so much for our wedding photographs. We are in love with them. They are truly incredible and capture the happiness felt on the day perfectly! “
